Tim Greenwood and Associates are proud to be a member of the Reigate Business Guild which supports and serves the businesses and community in our town.
We recently instigated and assisted in organising a Reigate Business Guild litter pick in the town which was a great success. We had over 20 volunteers despite forecasts of heavy rain and managing to set a date which clashed with England’s opening game in the Rugby World Cup in Japan! The fantastic volunteers who turned up on the day included Guild members, their partners and family members along with other members of the public who heard of the event. Reigate and Banstead Borough Council had kindly supplied us with all the kit we needed so on Sunday morning we all got stuck into the task.
The forecasted heavy rain fortunately held off and whilst Reigate is a lovely town, like everywhere sadly you don’t have to look too hard to find rubbish discarded around the town and park areas. The Reigate Business Guild received a huge amount of support and encouragement from members not able to make the event and the general public who saw our efforts on the day. Whilst the comments were all positive as we worked to clear rubbish wearing our hi viz vests, some volunteers were concerned that there could be a misconception that the litter picking efforts were not voluntary but as Community Service!
Following 2 hours of collecting, and after finding some unexpected and unusual items, we certainly made a difference to Reigate town centre and the park. The morning was a success and with more offers of help for future litter picks further events are being planned.
